Packaging with (a) Promise
Madplum Creative has a passion for brands committed to something bigger than just sales, so naturally we were thrilled when Promise Organic came to us to help design their packaging. We immediately fell in love with their line of high-performance, naturally derived, cruelty-free beauty products, and set out to create something truly special for their brand launch.
The challenge for Promise Organic was to develop a packaging concept that would appeal to natural beauty connoisseurs, but also stand out as something fresh and different in the ever-expanding organic skincare category. After exploring several concepts, we landed on a winning idea which featured clean lines, bright colors, and abstract botanical illustrations for a look that felt equal parts natural and contemporary. Madplum Creative chose an eye-catching blue and orange palate for the Nourishing Coconut Milk collection, and a modern green and pink for Ultra-Moisturizing Argan. To ensure credibility, we also ensured that natural certification and wellness claims be incorporated seamlessly (yet prominently) in the design.

Promise Organic launched exclusively in CVS. A quantitative research study of 660 women showed their purchase interest based on packaging and price and our designs proved 30% higher than the natural skin care leader! In September 2015, Promise Organic launched with a full assortment of 14 SKUs in 1,600 CVS stores across the United States. Thanks to the stand-out brand, they were able to secure top-shelf positioning in the natural skin care set. Out of the gate, sales results were hugely successful, beating initial forecasts and expectations. Based on its early success, the Promise Organic brand is slated to expand to another 1,600 stores in 2016 and enter new product categories such as suncare.
